Is the next Jessica Watson among the 128 secondary students from 16 schools across Australia sailing their dinghies in an adrenaline fuelled race?
Participating South Australian teams hoping to bring home the title of Australian School Team Champion are: St Joseph’s School, Port Lincoln, St Michael’s School, Henley and St Peter’s College, Hackney.
The recognised format for the Team Racing World Championship involves racing in two-handed dinghies, three a side. More than a simple race, this form of dinghy racing involves skilled tactics and a clear understanding of sailing to ensure a victory; team-work is critical for success.
Port Adelaide Sailing club has outstanding public viewing opportunities and with more than 30 races each day, the competition is fast, furious and spectacular to watch.
