The guest wing of Carrick Hill will be set back in place for the summer season for visitors to enjoy the guest bedrooms and their stylish 1940s decor. The working life of the house will be presented explaining the servants roles in post war Australia and the rise of the Electric servant such as the Lady ‘K’ refrigerator Carrick Hill. This domestic machine has just been acquired as well as a 46 piece majolica dinner service once owned by Ursula Hayward and both will be displayed in the Butler’s Pantry. Also on display in the corridor of the guest wing are photographs of Carrick Hill by Mick Bradley entitled ‘Portrait of a Place’. This prominent Adelaide photographer captures evocative images of the house interiors, garden and collections in 2007 to celebrate the centenary of Ursula Hayward’s birth.
